DICE[edit]

DICE involvement: Marcus Nilsson & Patrick Sunderland help Slightly Mad Studios with what the feeling is like of being in really fast cars and with implementing the AutoLog system and making the game accessible (and fun). Boxart[edit]

I see no reason to change the boxart - the current version is fine, is platform neutral. The new version has no difference (that I can see anyway) apart from having a PC footer. Thanks! Fin© 12:16, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My bad, they are slightly different. Clip the footer out of the new version, sorted. Thanks! Fin© 12:17, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed the new one is different from the old one, so the old one is simply an inaccurate representation of the cover and therefor should be replaced. I don't see any problem with keeping the new version as it is, since WP:VGIMAGES clearly states "Game covers from PC games are considered platform-neutral if they do not indicate a required operating system". X201 said something about "the nationality issue", but the only difference there is of course the ESBN tag (which is North American), which is not part of the cover design itself and therefor not a problem. --MrStalker (talk) 12:29, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. Didn't spot the headlights in the changed version. If, like Hot Pursuit, the Euro cover is different to the NA cover we can change it at a later date. In the meantime, I've no objection to going with the NA cover as it stands at the moment. - X201 (talk) 12:49, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well then, I'll go ahead and change it. --MrStalker (talk) 14:56, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reception section and no mention of PC bugs[edit]

Why is the Reception section completely empty? Also, there should be mention of the bugs present on the PC version, such as the control issues and the lack of an SLi profile. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.221.84.148 (talk) 05:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Game Engine[edit]

The URL for the source used in the quick info box that states that Shift 2 uses The Madness Engine is broken. Whoever knows of another source should add this source, because I know almost nothing about editing Wikipedia. Supermartianpacmangirl (talk) 19:35, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

the contents of shift 2 unleashed[edit]

I think that the article lack the mention about 2 dlc which produced to the game & it is lack also the list of cars & the track in the game.

"2.1 Spin-off" section makes no sense[edit]

"2 Development > 2.1 Spin-off" section makes no sense. There is no mention of a new game related to Shift 2: Unleashed. Are1981 (talk) 01:36, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

graphics engine[edit]

Do shift 2 and shift use the gMotor (rfactor) graphics engine or something of their own? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.35.33.239 (talk) 02:19, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Same basic engine, first used in EA's F1 1999 through 2002 series, and also used in the GTR series, rFactor, Race 07, ... . Rcgldr (talk) 22:01, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

System reqs - someone add them[edit]

Please add the system requirements for the PC version, such as Windows version, RAM, CPU, GPU/etc. Naki (talk) 09:51, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

General comments about the game - possible additions to article[edit]

This was the first Need For Speed game to remove online chat. Without some type of voice over IP (VOIP), there's no way to communicate with other online players, even when in a lobby waiting for a race to start. This was part of the reason that online play in Shift 2 wasn't as popular as it was in other games. Rcgldr (talk) 22:18, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The two fastest cars Gumpert Apollo, and Lamborghini LP640 (Limited Edition) will drag the car body on the ground at high speeds due to excessive downforce, with the resulting effect of unpredictable and sudden oversteer for those cars at tracks that involve high speed turns. Rcgldr (talk) 22:18, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Drifting with analog controllers is difficult and at some tracks, nearly impossible to achieve the goal score. Unlike the first Shift and most other sim oriented racing games, which favor analog controllers, Shift 2 seems to favor digital controllers like game pads (where the game does some of the steering for the player). The promotional videos for Shift 2 showed EA staffers using gamepads as controllers, versus other sim oriented games where promotional videos show wheel and pedal sets being used. gameplay - list of non-player characters during career mode.[edit]

In the second paragraph of gameplay, it mentions "Vaughn Gittin ... guides the player", but there is little, if any "guidance". Instead, it's mostly canned speech, often unrelated to a players actual "driving" other than acknowledging a player's winning of an event, or suggesting the player try again for not winning an event. An anonymous user removed a list of the non-player characters (real people's names) used in the game. Rcgldr (talk) 22:10, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
